Deer Valley

The best thing about this semester was our ski passes to Deer Valley! Chris's parents gave them to us for Christmas along with a gift card to get lunch in the lodge. SO YUMMY!!! Not only did we get to do *amazing* skiing all season but it gave us an excuse to get up to Park City and escape the stresses of school on the weekend. This is Chris and I's favorite thing to do together and what actually got us dating in the first place. Chris has made me such a better skiier and is such a patient "coach." I tried to keep up with him and he turned me into a mogul and black diamond skier. Deer Valley is one of my favorite spots in the whole world. Their service, food, and high speed quads are world-class. I love how they unload your skis for you as soon as you pull up to the curb and stopping for lunch is a MUST rather than a hassle. Instead of over-priced lodge food you get the choices of world famous turkey chili, a specialty grill, panini station, delicious desserts, and Sherrie's favorite part: the natural buffet. Last week I had Spear fish with citrus peel and pomegranate on pita bread. Not your typical ski food.

The Chutes at Empire Bowl
These were my challenge this season. Maybe it was the big caution and expert only sign that took Rob paying me $20 to go down the Daly Bowl for the first time. Now I love them and can now go down the Daly Bowl and Chutes 2,4,7,8,and 10. I figured I'd leave 3-6 until next year :). After going down these I bought a helmet while Chris and I were in Montana. Ever since Natasha Richardson died from a ski accident I have been paranoid that I will hit a tree.

On our last trip up there over conference weekend, we skied a half day with the Bell's and finally got Sherrie to go down the Daly Bowl. She was a smart cookie and held out for Chris and I cooking over the summer 3 times a week and a family trip to New York this summer in exchange for going down the bowl. She did an *excellent job* and we were all so proud of her!!

(as delicious as this entree was, I was a little concerned about cross contamination...)*Spring Skiing After Classes and Work**After Spring Skiing with the Bells They Treated us to an AMAZING Dinner at the Riverhorse on Main*This restaurant was beautiful. Rich bread with sweet butter, great service, fabulous art, and gourmet food. I ordered the Lobster and Scallops. Check out this presentation:My favorite combination in the world right now: food and skiing. Can you tell?
