Accepted!

Well 2011 is off to a fantastic start! I found out on Wednesday that I was accepted to the BYU internship! It was a bittersweet day because I was selected out of 18 amazing girls, 10 of whom did not receive a spot. After spending two years getting to know everyone and becoming such good friends it was tough to see some so disappointed. Luckily everyone has a fantastic attitude and have been really supportive (which is a good thing because we have 3 more months of working together).

The BYU internship is probably one of the best internships available and very highly respected. It is 9 months of supervised practice that is required to become an accredited Registered Dietitian. I will be doing rotations in hospitals all the way from Utah Valley Medical Center in Provo up to Primary Children's in Salt Lake and McKay Dee in Ogden. I will also be doing community and management rotations throughout Utah Valley working with community programs like WIC and managing the on-campus restaurant that is a lab for the undergraduate juniors. After my 1200 hours are complete I can take the exam (BYU interns have a 100% passing rate) and begin working as an R.D.! Finally!

To celebrate Chris took me to Olive Garden and we indulged in their frozen raspberry lemonade...mmmm
There were a few other pieces of good news that week. I made the Dean's List of the Life Sciences College (which means I'm in the top 5% of the college), Chris's good friend he met on his Panama trip got engaged and they came down from Salt Lake to see us, and we found out we are going to Hawaii in June!! Woo!

Two items checked off of our list for 2012 for now!

Internship. Check.

Hawaii. Soon to be Check.

  1. Oh Kerri! Congratulations!! We are so excited for you :) And that means you guys will be sticking around past your graduation! (although Chris probably isn't done with school yet, so you'd be around anyway?)
